Both ways doubles the directions of fixed lines.

Short answer: Most slots pay only for matching symbols starting from the left reel. A both-ways slot also pays from the right, so each payline can win in two directions.

What it changes

It roughly doubles how often a line can pay, which makes wins frequent and, to keep the return the same, individually smaller.

Starburst

The best-known both-ways slot. Ten lines paying in two directions is why it feels busy for a game with a low volatility rating and a 500x ceiling.

Not the same as more ways

Both ways doubles the directions of fixed lines. Ways-to-win slots remove lines altogether.
