Short answer: A sticky wild is a wild symbol that stays in place for more than one spin, usually for the rest of a free spins round. Each one that lands makes every remaining spin more likely to pay.

How they build

The first sticky wild changes little. The third or fourth, held across the middle reels, can turn the last spins of a feature into repeated wins. That back-loaded shape is why sticky-wild features feel slow, then sudden.

Among our seven

None of the seven slots we take apart uses a true sticky wild. Starburst's expanding wild holds for a single re-spin, which is the nearest relative, and is covered under expanding wilds.

What to check

Whether wilds stick in the base game or only in free spins, and whether the round can be retriggered, since more spins is what makes sticky wilds valuable.
